| POWERGRID restores 400 KV Kishenpur-Wagoora transmission line successfully | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 6: POWERGRID Restores 400 kV Kishenpur-Wagoora transmission line twice with help of State administration and Indian Air Force Continuous rain and snowfall on 4/5 February that threw normal life out of gear in the stretch of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway had its impact on 400 KV Kishenpur-Wag-oora transmission line of POWERGRID as well within fifteen days. According to official spokesperson transmission line was damaged and power transmission in one of its Circuits (Circuit-II) was affected from yesterday afternoon but the technical snag was rectified immediately to restore the power to concerned feeding areas. "Its circuit -I had earlier been affected on 20/01/2013 which the POWERGRID had restored in the shortest possible time with support of State Administration and Indian Air Force," he added. Spokesperson said keeping its commitment of minimum downtime in its transmission lines, the authorities in POWERGRID immediately swung into action and sought due help from State government and Indian Air Force particularly ferrying their manpower to the site. The team of experienced engineers headed by Arshad Khan Chief Manager and Mohd Farooq Manager (OS) were dropped by helicopter at the desired location despite high velocity winds and hostile conditions. The line was restored today at 15:23 Hrs around 500 Mega watts of electricity was made available to the valley as was before the snowfall. The whole of the operation was being monitored at highest level in POWERGRID, with its General Manager (O&M), K R Suri keeping the close look at the developments and commanding the restoration work. J P Singh, Executive Director POWERGRID Northern Region-II has congratulated the team for their extraordinary efforts in restoring the transmission line and conveyed thanks on behalf of POWERGRID to state administration and Air Force for their continued support. |
