| Jammu Civil Society honours Ramzan, Masud | | | ET PLUS REPORT
Jammu, Mar 10: Civil Society for Art and Literature organized a programme to felicitate Minister for CAPD and Transport Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and former Vice Chancellor of BGSB University Masud Choudhary for their distinguished contributions in the field of public life and for the spread of education among disadvantaged community like Gurjars respectively in this state. In the function the educated social elite drawn from different parts of Jammu participated. The function was presided over by ex Member Parliament Ghulam Mohammad Mir Poonchi. President of the Society Mohammad Aslam Qureshi while speaking on the occasion highlighted the qualities of Ramzan and stated that though he looks to be very young, "fact is he has earned a respectable place in the category of senior leaders of the National Conference." He said that his popularity graph was always on the rise whatever may be the circumstances in the state and has not waned till date. "His latest victory during election in 2008 from Handwara garnering highest ever margins of votes speaks eloquently about his being connected with the gross-roots level people. His influence is not restricted to district Kupwara only but he has established himself as one of the popular senior public figure in all the region of the state," Qureshi added. Likewise, he said, society feels proud that Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University awarded Masud Choudhary the D. Litt Degree for his unmatched contribution towards his society. Along with him the other notable recipient of this honour was an international figure in the person of N Murthi who symbolizes the modern face of India's prosperity. Mir Poonchi who presided over the function congratulated both for being felicitated by the Society and wished them long and still more fulfilling life. Chairman Kashmir Times, Ved Bhasin, MLCs Javed Rana and Jahangir Mir also spoke on the occasion. |
