| PDP ex-servicemen wing holds meeting in Bishnah | | | ET PLUS REPORT
Jammu, Mar 10: A meeting of Peoples Democratic Party ex-servicemen wing was held in Bishnah today which was presided over by Capt (rtd) Anil Gour, State President of the wing. In a statement a spokesperson of the party said a large number of ex-servicemen from Bishnah tehsil attended the meeting and discussed the various problems being faced by them due to the alleged apathy of the successive state governments. Capt Gour clarified that all retired personnel who have served in any defence forces, para military organisation are the members of PDPESW and assured them their demands would be taken up at the highest levels of the party high command and solutions sought from the government. The participants were critical of the VAT being levied on all CSD sales in the State. They were unanimous in their demand for the removal of VAT as "it hits the pensioners and war widows the most." Capt Gour informed the gathering that there was also no progress on providing the reservation in jobs, priority dealing of revenue problems of ex-servicemen and earmarking of land for the establishment of Sanik colonies in the state. He also informed the participants that the Ministry of Defence is waiting for the transfer of land already identified in Jindrah area, for establishing Brig Rajinder Singh Hostel for Veer Naris and wards of martyrs. |
