Srinagar, Mar 10: It was a historic moment when post offices in Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora delivered mail today. "We stand with the people of Kashmir and want to walk an extra mile. That's why, all the post offices in Srinagar town were kept open today to facilitate booking of registered letters, speed post and money orders," said, John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir. This is for the first time in the history that all post offices in Srinagar remained open on Sunday. Due to curfew restrictions for the past few days, the people could not avail postal services. Further, the mail delivery could not take place in several areas due to curfew restrictions. "With a view to help the people getting their mail, postal department has taken this initiative," Samuel said. He said that during the curfew, Srinagar GPO was open on all days to provide services and appreciated the staff for their commitment. Samuel assured the people of Kashmir that his department will go out of the way in providing good postal services across the region. |
