KARGIL, Mar 10: Single Star Trespone lifted the title trophy in the Kargil Archery Tournament after they beat Titi Chumeek 32-27 in the final played at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium, here today. In all, 72 teams took part in this traditional archery competition which was organised by Ladakh Archery Development Association. Mohammad Ali of Single Star adjudged man of the match while man of the tournament trophy went to Abass Jan of City G M Pore. In the valedictory function, which followed by the final, Acting Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Speaking to the huge gathering of archery lovers, Haji Amir appreciated the role of the Association in promoting traditional Archery. Congratulating both the finalist teams, Amir appreciated the talented stuff and stressed the need for introduction of modern archery at the grass root level in the district. He further said that promotion of sports was on priority list of the LAHDC Kargil and disclosed that Council has started work on the international Ice Skating Rink Kurbathang, Ice Skating Rink Drass, Polo promotion development infrastructure in Drass, pavilion at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium and Snow Ski Slops of Drass as also in Kargil. Earlier the secretary of the host Association, Kacho Mohammad presented a brief overview of the activities. |
