| Altaf urges for maintain pollution free environment for hygiene, better tourist influx | | Rs. 11 crore utilized under MGNERGA in Kangan | |
Srinagar: Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Main Altaf Ahmad today urged the people to avail maximum benefits of various welfare schemes being launched by the government in providing the basic amenities and clean environment to the people living in the remote areas. The Minister was addressing a large gathering at Kangan here today. The function was organized by the Rural Development Department to bring awareness among the people for the better implementation of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) scheme. Main Altaf said that schemes like NBA have been launched to improve the living standard of the people and provides better hygienic environment. Stressing for the maintaining of cleanliness at tourist destinations, the Minister emphasized for the pollution free environment to attract more local and foreign tourists to the State. He said that this will help in increasing the inflow of tourists and subsequently shall lead to the avenues of income generation for local people so that their socio-economic conditions get improved. On this occasion, the Minister was informed that under NBA schemes Rs. 38 lakhs have been expended for the construction of 560 individual lavatory points in block Kangan besides 11 community lavatories have also been constructed. The Minister was informed that under MG NERGA Rs. 11 crores have been utilized for various developmental and welfare schemes in the block. Mr. Altaf exhorted upon the people to play their vital role in conservation of environment and forests so that natural resources can sustained for posture. Later on the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs. 28.56 lakhs among 560 beneficiaries under NBA scheme. The Minister also gave away certificates among the 330 Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area for their participation in training course. Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mr. Itrat Hussain Rafique, Assistant Commissioner Development, Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal and other district officers were present on the occasion. |
