| Rs. 4.50 cr released to Poonch for restoration works: Rather | | | JAMMU: Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today informed the House that on 17th and 18th January 2013, heavy snow fall and hail storm occurred in district Poonch which caused extensive damage to the 132 KV Rajouri-Darba-Chandak Transmission line. This resulted into massive damage to HT/LT network and distribution system throughout the length and breadth of district Poonch. Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Aijaz Ahmed Jan, the Minister said that despite the bad weather conditions on these days the Department had made efforts to assess the damage and immediately start restoration of power supply. He said the first priority was to restore the 33 KV Rajouri-Mendhar-Poonch and 33 KV Rajouri-DKG-Poonch lines. He said after the restoration of power supply in major and small towns in the district, the process of restoration was further extended to remote villages. The Minister said that an amount of Rs. 4.50 crore have been released by the Government for restoration of damaged electric network of the district. He said at present against the normal availability of 48 MVA only 16 MVA power supply is available through 33 KV lines in the absence of 132 KV transmission lines. He said presently the power supply to various towns of Poonch district is being regulated and 7-8 hours power supply are being provided in Poonch, 8-10 hours in Mendhar and 6-7 hours in Surankote, Mandi, Bufliaz, Loran and Sawjain. He said that normal power supply shall be ensured only after restoration of 33 KV supply from Draba and Chandak Grids. Regarding the power consumption Bill, the Minister said as per SERC norms, the power consumption Bill will not be served to the consumers of the area which do not get power for more than 15 days in a month. As regards the metering, the Poonch Town is 100% metered while as metering in rural areas is in process.
