Rs. 21.22 cr land compensation disbursed in Kupwara: Mir

JAMMU: Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir on behalf of R&B Minister today informed the Legislative Assembly that construction and widening of Handwara-Nowgam road is under the execution with BRO and a compensation of Rs. 21.22 crore has been paid through the Revenue authorities for disbursement among the rightful land owners. Till date an amount of Rs. 14.92 crore has been disbursed by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara on this account and 236 structures have been removed. The bottleneck on account of shifting of utilities and removal of Government buildings and structures existing on a Khacharai land are also being removed, he said.
While replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Er. Abdul Rashid, the Minister said that the land between Km 7 to Km 15.56 is in the process of being handed over to BRO. However, he said the formation works on the land having no problems of land acquisition and forest clearance are in progress. The contract for surface work between Km 0 to 5 km is under acceptance and will start by 2nd week of April 2013, the Minister informed.
