93 % work completed on Mughal road project: Wani

JAMMU: Minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul MajidWani asked the Hindustan Construction Corporation (HCC) to further gear up for early completion of remaining work of Rs 639.85 cr Mughal road project.
The Minister was addressing a review meeting of M/S HCC and officers of R&B department to review progress on prestigious Mughal road project here today.
Minister of State for R&B Mr Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Mrs Tanveer Jehan, were also present in the meeting.
On this occasion, a power point presentation highlighting the status of various construction works under taken by HCC on the projectbesides difficulties encountered during the execution of works like hostile weather condition, high altitude and tough terrain was presented.
The Minister appreciated the executing agency for creating quality
infrastructure in the State. He directed for conduct of geological and geotechnical investigation of proposed tunnel having approximate length of 7 kilometres from Zaznar to Chathapani at an altitude of 3000 mtr.
Impressing upon the importance of tunnel on Mughal road projects, the Minister hoped that on the completion of this project, viable alternate to the existing National Highway for movement from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa will be provided to the people of the State. He said that all weather connectivity of the Mughal road even during intense snow fall will give a fillip to the economy of the State, particularly tourism sector besides enhancing socio-economic graph of the region.
The meeting was informed that 93 percent work has been completed on the Mughal road project and efforts are on to ensure speedy completion for facilitating people of both the regions of the State with all weather connectivity.
