Seven Pvt. Members’ Bills moved in LA

JAMMU: Bill No: As many as seven Private Members’ Bills were moved in Legislative Assembly today. Out of these, three were allowed to be introduced, three rejected and one withdrawn.
The Legislative Assembly Private Members Bill No. 53 of 2012 which was moved by Er. Abdul Rashid was allowed to be introduced by the House. The Bill seeks amendment in the J&K Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Act, 2010.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta moved three Bills in the House. One Bill was allowed to be introduced and other two were rejected by the House. Private Members LA Bill No. 34 of 2011, which pertains to provide political reservation to Gaddis/Sippis, Gujjars and Bakerwals in the State was opposed by the Law Minister and House rejected it with voice vote.
The Private Members Legislative Assembly Bill No. 74 of 2011 of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta provides to amend the J&K Constituencies. The Bill was opposed to by the Law Minister and House rejected the same with voice vote. Another LA Private Members Bill No. 73 of 2011 of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta which pertains to amendment in the J&K Accountability Commission Act, 2002 was allowed to be moved in the House.

The Legislative Assembly Bill No. 38 of 2011 moved by Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia regarding amending the Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Act, 1988 was opposed by the Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and House rejected the same with voice vote.
The House also allowed introducing a Private Members Bill moved by Mr. Jagdish Raj Sapolia. The Legislative Assembly Bill No. 43 of 2011 seeks to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure Samvat, 1989.
Another Private Members Bill No. 46 of 2011 which was moved by Mr. Charanjeet Singh was opposed by the Minister of State for Revenue, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Khan with the argument that the Government will bring its own Bill and consider the amendment of the Member in that Bill.
Later, the Member withdrew the Bill which was allowed by the House.
