| Ex NC Ministers buy costly SUVs after being axed from Ministry | | The Axe of Fortune! | | ET Plus Report JAMMU, Apr 4: The gleaming SUVs bought recently by two former Ministers of the NC led Government have been talk of the town as expensive SUVs were bought by the duo just after they were axed from the Council of Ministers. Former MoS Home Nasir Aslam Wani and former MoS PWD Javed Ahmed Dar have bought two SUVs, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra XUV 500 after being axed from the Ministry by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on January 15 this year. Both Wani and Dar are considered to be the close associates of Omar Abdullah and were dropped from Ministry to make way for other party colleagues in Council of Ministers. After leaving the Council of Ministers, these NC MLAs bought SUVs and have been flashing these expensive vehicles in legislative Assembly these days. Questions are being raised over the sources of funds . While filing their papers for 2008 for buying these expensive vehicles as in the last Assembly elections, both these NC leaders declared their assets, which were too little to enable them to buy such flashy cars, drawing clear inference that during three years as Ministers, these NC leaders have made huge fortunes to afford such vehicles. The base model of Toyota Fortuner, bought by Wani costs more than Rs 18 lakh and Mahindra XUV 500 costs more than Rs 13.5 lakh. Political circles are abuzz with the demand of an enquiry into the sources of funds for buying such expensive vehicles by both these former Ministers, but is anyone taking a notice? |
