UDHAMPUR: In an effort to mechanize the farm operations and to save time, labour and money of the farming community, the agriculture department Udhampur has launched a training, testing and demonstration drive today from Village Roun, Udhampur under Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Strengthening of Agriculture Machinery and infrastructure”. Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, K.S. Sambyal inaugurated the programme by demonstrating the operations of Reaper cum Binder in the farmer’s field. While speaking on the occasion, Sambyal revealed that the Agriculture Machinery viz; Reaper cum Binder, Rotavator and Seed cum Ferti drill were procured under the Scheme to improve the farming operations in hilly areas of the district. He added that the main theme of these demonstrations was to test the efficacy of the machinery, capacity building by training the human resource in better agriculture operations and to demonstrate the uses of the machinery among the farming community at large to make awareness among them. He also said that more such demonstrations of machinery would be made possible in most parts of the district in the ensuing sowing season. While christening the advantages of the reaper cum binder, Sambyal stated that the machine under demonstration (reaper cum Binder) not only reaps the crop but also binds at the same time. He added that the economics of the machine is that with one litre of diesel it can reap and bind the crop of one acre in one hour. The people of the area applauded the efforts of the department and appealed that such type of demonstrations of agriculture machinery are the need of the hour to glamorize this sector so that the next generation of the farming community can adopt the same occupation without any hitch. Besides A.K.Verma, SDAO, Vijay kaw, SMS (SDL), H.K.Bhagat SMS (SDL), A.K.Dhar, SMS (Engg.), Vikas Padha, AEO, R. Koul, AEO, K.K.Sharma, Biogas Engg., Harbhajan Singh, AEO, Rajesh Verma, AEO, Rakesh Padha, JAEO, Thill Roun, Prem nath JAEO and ReZ’s of the concerned circle were part of the demonstration drive. |
