CHENNAI: Moments after a Villupuram court granted bail to the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss, the Tamil Nadu government moved the Madras high court to get the relief cancelled. On Friday morning, when vacation judge Justice M Sathyanarayanan settled to hear other cases, advocate-general A L Somayaji mentioned the issue of bail granted to the PMK leader, and said sought the court's for the state government to file an appeal to cancel the bail. Permitting the government to move an appeal against bail for Ramadoss, the judge called for records from the Villupuram court which had granted bail to the PMK founder. "Now that the court has called for the bundles/reports in connection with the case, the PMK leader cannot be released on bail as he will not be able to furnish surety and execute other bail formalities," said a senior prosecutor. It all began with the PMK-affiliated Vanniar Sangam's full moon conference at the coastal town of Mahabalipuram. While on their way to the venue, clash erupted at Marakkanam. The largescale violence left several vehicles gutted and traffic disrupted. Two youths were also found dead later. |
