Arrangements for Shri Amarnath ji Yatra discussed

UDHAMPUR: The Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mrs. Yasha Mudgal today asked all line departments to work in close coordination to ensure fool-proof arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra -2013.
The DDC was addressing a meeting of district officers of different departments at Udhampur, convened to discuss the arrangements for the annual yatra to the cave shrine in the South Kashmir.
Ms. Deepti Uppal, IAS Probationer, Joint Director Planning, Mr. Rakesh Jamwal, Superintendent of Police, Benam Tosh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mr. S.S Samyal, Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur and officers of PDD, PWD, PHE , CA &PD, Municipality, Traffic and Members of Shree Amarnath Ji Yatra Committee, Udhampur were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements to be put in place by the district administration enroute from village Tikri to Patnitop for the hassle-free Yatra. These include drinking water and power supply, sanitation, provision of temporary toilet, lodging and langar facilities, Medicare, traffic and security arrangements at the already identified locations of stay.
To ensure availability of quality and regulation of rates of the eatables and other essential commodities during the yatra period especially along the National Highway, DDC issued specific instructions to the officers of different departments to conduct regular checking of market and ensure that there is no overcharging by the shopkeepers. Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner said that as per routine the main control room would be at the District Police Line, while additional control rooms are proposed to be setup at police station Tikri and Chenani with the help of respective Tehsildars .
On the occasion, Superintendent of Police assured full cooperation by the police department and called for ensuring all arrangements by the different agencies well in advance.
To meet out any medical emergency, the Health department would augment medical facilities at Tikri, Rehmble, Udhampur, Chenani and Kud with ambulances at Tikri, Udhampur and Chenani.
The administration has also made the provision for the accommodation of the yatris at different places within the district to meet any emergency .
