| Sham reviews PHE, Irrigation facilities in Sonawari Tehsil | | 8 new irrigation schemes worth Rs 19.62 crore to be taken up this year | | SRINAGAR: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Sham Lal SharmaTuesday took stock of the status of on-going water supply schemes and irrigation facilities being provided to the farmers of Sonawari Tehsil of District Bandipore at a high level meeting of officers here. Minister for Higher Education Mr. Muhammad Akbar Lone, was also present on the occasion. The Ministers took detailed appraisal of various schemes in Sonawari particularly pertaining to drinking water and irrigation facilities and the measures being taken for flood control. It was informed that 26 water supply schemes costing an amount of Rs 59.71 crore have been taken up in Sonawari under different sectors. Out of these 9 schemes are near completion and will be dedicated to the people by August this year. An amount of Rs 26.11 crore has been incurred on theseon-going schemes ending March, 2013. In the irrigation sector in the Tehsil, it was informed that the work on 6 irrigation schemes taken up in 2012-13 at a cost of Rs 3.07 crore, is in full swing adding that Rs 1.74 crore have been incurred on these schemes sofar. During the current year 8new schemes worth Rs 19.62 crore are proposed to be taken up in the Tehsil,. The Ministers were further apprised thatunder the Flood Management Programme of River Jehlum, an amount of Rs 91.94lakhs have been incurred ending March, 2013. To look after various lift irrigation station in the Tehsil, the Mr Sham Laldirected the concerned authorities to submit a detailed list of the persons presently working in various capacities along with the list of the required manpower within 15 days for further appropriate action. The Minister directed the concerned authorities the ensure irrigation facilities to the paddy fields and orchards as the kharief season has already startedadding that the schemes taken up should be completed within the stipulated time. Among others Chief Engineer PHE, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control and various Executive Engineers of the departmental wings attended the meeting. |
