| Gurezi concludes week-long tour to remote areas of Tehsil Gurez | | | GUREZ: Minister of State for PHE Irrigation & Flood Control Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi concluded a week-long extensive tour to various inaccessible and far flung areas of Gurez including Bagtore, Tarabal, Izmerg, Chuntiwara, Khupri, Shahpora, Burnaie, PurnaTulain, Kalshay, NeeruNallah, Budugam, Jurnial, Saradaab, Budaab and Gugran in Bandipora district and took stock of the people’s problems besides their developmental needs. The Minister also took stock of the various developmental works worth Crores of rupees taken up by various executing agencies under different sectors in the area. He also inspected various educational institutions and health institutions besides taking stock of supply position of essential commodities in the Tehsil. Mr. Gurezi directed the education authorities to ensure punctuality of teaching staff and students in all schools with focus on inculcating moral values among the students. He also asked the Health Department to provide better Medicare facilities including medicines free of cost to the needy and deserving. The Minister directed the authorities of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution to streamline the distribution system of essential commodities. He asked the concerned to ensure timely supply of ration to the consumers of all inaccessible areas of the Tehsil. Addressing the series of public meetings at different places, the Minister said that the government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken several initiatives which have changed the socio-economic condition of the people during last 4 years. He said the measures put in place will continue till the goal of developing Gurez on modern lines is achieved. He said that most commitments made during 2008 General Election have been fulfilled as per the aspirations of the people of the State. Reiterating the contribution of Sheri-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for the welfare and betterment of the people of the State especially the border and far flung areas like Gurez, Tulail, Tangdar and Karan, the Minister said it is due to the efforts of the late legendary leader that the socio-economic condition of the people were improved and people were freed from the shackles of the autocratic despotic rule. During his tour, the Minister also convened series of meetings with the local administration and reviewed overall developmental scenario of the Tehsil. He directed the officers to ensure completion of all ongoing developmental works within time bound manner keeping in view the geographical condition of the area. Referring to climatic conditions of Gurez Tehsil, the Minister said that the execution period of any development work is limited and there is dire need of providing quality material for taking up any project so that within few months the execution is completed in letter and spirit. Several deputations met the Minister during his visit and apprised him about their individual and collective problems. Mr. Gurezi heard them patiently and assured that their genuine demands will be looked into. |
