Governor flags-off 3rd Shikarathon
Calls for all required measures being taken for promotion of tourism

SRINAGAR, May 11 : Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, flagged-off the 3rd Shikarathon organized by The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group at Dal Lake here this afternoon. About 100 Shikarawallas drawn from Dal, Nageen and Manasbal lakes participated in the Shikarathon. Present on the occasion were Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady; Mr. Atal Dulloo, Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism; Dr. Jyotsna Suri, CMD, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group; senior officers, prominent citizens and tourists. Later, speaking after giving away prizes to the first five best adjudged winners of the Shikarathon at the prize distribution function held at SKICC, the Governor observed that tourism is a very important sector of the State’s economy and emphasized the need for all the required measures being taken for its promotion on a well planned and sustained basis. Referring to the Shikarathon, the Governor complimented Dr. Suri for organizing this exciting competition consecutively for the past three years, which has provided an opportunity to the Shikar-awallas to participate in the competition and the people, particularly the tourists, to witness this beautiful spectacle with colourfully decorated Shikaras chasing each other on the Dal Lake. The Governor interacted with the Shikarawallas and congratulated the winners and others for participating in this event. Dr. Jyotsna Suri thanked the Governor for being the Chief Guest on this occasion. A number of representatives of travel trade, Shikarawallas and prominent persons were present at the prize distribution function.
