| Wani reviews pace on dev works in Doda | | Assures adequate relief to earthquake affected people | | Early Times Report DODA, May 11 : Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, today said that the Government was committed to provide every possible relief and assistance to the people affected by the recent earthquake in erstwhile District Doda. He was speaking at a meeting of District and Sectoral officers convened here today to review the performance of various Departments under Annual District Plan 2012-13 and other flagship programmes / Centrally sponsored schemes. MLC Khalid Najib Sohwardy, MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh, SP Doda Arif Rishu, Additional District Development Commissioner Doda Sh. G.N Balwan, Chief Planning Officer Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Rakesh Kumar besides other District and Sectoral officers attended the meeting.While addressing the meeting Minister said that state government was mobilizing its own resources besides central government is also approached to provide relief to the affected people, He said preliminary survey till May 9 has been received which showed huge damage to the public as well as government property across the region. He said tents as temporary shelter have been provided to the severely affected families whose houses have suffered severe damage and are not fit for habitation in the erstwhile District Doda. Mr. Wani directed the officers to make actual assessment of damages on ground so that all the affected/ deserving people of the District get benefited. It was revealed that 164 tents have been provided to the affected families for temporary shelter and 14 tents have been provided to Chief Education Officer, Doda for distribution in Schools. District Development Commissioner Doda Mr. Mubarak Singh presented a power point presentation on the occasion and apprised that under Annual District Plan 2012-13 against an approved outlay of Rs. 8388.21 lacs which was later revised to Rs. 7811.01 lacs an expenditure of Rs. 7774.11 lacs was incurred which works out to 99.53 percent. Besides also apprised the Minister about the measures and steps taken by the District Administration for relief and rehabilitation of earthquake affected people in the District. During the meeting various road projects were discussed which include Thalsera- Malothi road, Senai- Khillani link road, Hanga Link road, Jakyas- Challar road, Assar- Thanda Pani road and Gowari Dhosa road – Girls HSS Gowari road, besides other major projects were also discussed. While reviewing the New District Hospital Doda, Minister directed JKPCC to expedite the construction work of Compound wall of the Hospital besides construct two Guard Rooms in the Hospital on priority basis. Regarding shortage of Doctors in District Hospital Doda and SDH Bhaderwah , He also said that there is immediate need to post Radiologist at District Hospital Doda and Anesthetist at SDH Bhaderwah so that ailing people don’t suffer. He said the matter will be taken up the concerned department and Ministry for early posting of doctors in the District. The Minister also directed the officers to work in coordinated manner and come upto the expectations of the people and those officers who are not performing on ground shall face strict action. |
