Arrangements for 16-day long Kashmir Festival finalized
Div Com for coordination among concerned departments for the successful event

SRINAGAR, May 11 : Arrangements for Kashmir Tourist Festival-2013 commencing from May 14 were finalized in a divisional level meeting of officers chaired by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shalindra Kumar here today. Mr. Kumar urged the concerned officers to ensure coordination and cooperation for the successful conduct of the 16-day long festival, adding that tourism has emerged as an important economy boosting industry in the State and stressed for exploiting the tourism potential for improving the socio-economic conditions of the people. He said that various activities including presentation of cultural programmes, exhibition of stalls by different departments to showcase the art, culture, agro based products, handicrafts and horticulture produce. Divisional Commissioner also emphasized for better traffic management and adequate car parking facilities at Zabarwan and Kashmir Haat during the festival days. Other modalities including illumination, repairs of footpaths at Zabarwan, security, traffic plan, sanitation and power supply besides availability of fire tenders were also discussed threadbare.
To increase the influx of tourists, adventure activities including river rafting, paragliding, e-gaming shall also be undertaken during the festival, the meeting was informed.
Among others, Director General Fire and Emergency Services, Dr. G.A. Bhat, Director Handicrafts, Ms. Salma Hameed, Director Tourism, Mr. Talat Parvaiz, Director Agriculture, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Director Floriculture, Mr. Sunil Misri, Director Sericulture, Mr. Dhanbeer Singh, Director Horticulture, Mr. Sonam Narboo, Director Fisheries, R.K. Dogra, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Managing Director, J&K SRTC, Mr. J.S. Tandon, General Manager, J&K SRTC, DIG Traffic, SP Headquarter Srinagar, Joint Director Tourism, Joint Director Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Regional Wildlife Warden, Kashmir, Additional Secretary Culture, SP Traffic besides officers of various departments attended the meeting.
