Industrialization imperative for socio-economic emancipation: Kichloo

KATHUA: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo has called for optimum exploitation of vast industrial potential in the State to give boost to economic and employment activities in a big way.
Speaking to a gathering of industrialists and officers of Industries Commerce Department, after switching on power supply to the IID, Kathua, the Minister said that industrialization was imperative for socio-economic emancipation in view of the global race and competition in the free economic world. He asked the officers of Industries and Commerce Department to put in every effort for entrepreneurship development in the State.
Earlier, there was no power supply to the IID and the existing industrial units were running of diesel generators, which was not a viable proportion. Mr. Kichloo presented a cheque amounting to Rs. 1.20 crore to Power Development Department for providing power supply to this Industrial Estates (IEs) being maintained by the Small Scale Industrial Corporation (SICOP).
The District Development Commissioner, Kathua Mr. Jatinder Singh, Managing Director, SICOP, Mr. R. L Tickoo, Managing Director, SIDCO, Mr. M. Mauzam, M.D, JKI, Mr. Javed Iqbal, Joint Director, Industries and Commerce, Jammu and General Manager, DIC, S. Amarjit Singh and concerned officers accompanied the Minister.
The Unit Holders expresses their gratitude to the Minister for meeting the long pending demand regarding power supply to the industrial estate.
The Minister also inspected Industrial Estates, Ghati which is spread over an area of 3500 kanals of land and is maintained and developed by SICOP. The estate is well developed and ready for allotment of industrial plot to the entrepreneurs. He asked the concerned officers to focus on developing green belts in and around the industrial estate.
Mr. Kichloo inspected the upcoming cement plant at Samba. He also addressed a gathering of political and social activities at Hira Nagar.
