Government promoting renewable energy sources to meet energy requirements: Feroz

MAGAM: The Minister of State for Science and Technology and Information Technology Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Minister of State for Health Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan today inaugurated a Solar Power Plant (SPP) at Sub District Hospital, Magam, today
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the 15 KV Solar Power Plant has been constructed by the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) of the Science and Technology Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 lakh which will augment the power requirement of the Hospital including the emergency sections round the clock.
The Minister said that the JAKEDA is the Nodal Agency for promotion of New and Renewable sources of energy for meeting the energy requirements in general and un-electrified areas of the State in particular, adding that the government’s endeavours to harness the potential of Science and Technology as an instrument for changing the socio- economic condition of the people.
After inauguration, the Ministers inspected the hospital and took stock of the medicare facilities being provided to the patients. They went round various wards and sections including X-Ray Room, OPD, Operation Theatre, Ophthalmology Unit and the Store. They interacted with the patients and the attendant and enquired about the facilities.
Mr.Shabir directed the concerned Block Medical Officer to keep diet chart written in bold letters visible in every ward and maintain proper records on daily basis. He also stressed for maintaining the hygienic environ in and around the hospital premises.
The Ministers also inspected hospital building coming upat an estimated cost of Rs. 6.77 crore. The new hospital building would be constructed on modern lines with all facilities and sophisticated machines.
Responding to the demands, Mr. Shabir said that the bottlenecks which are hampering the construction work shall be removed so that the left out work is carried out. He said that the pace of construction work would be speeded-up for its early completion
keeping in view the heavy rush of patients. He said that new digital X-Ray machine would be installed soon in the new hospital. He also directed the CMO, Budgam to submit a proposal for posting of specialist medicos and Orthopaedic in the Hospital.
Later, Mr Feroz Khan, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of State for School Education, visited Government Higher Secondary School, Magam and took stock of its functioning.
Interacting with the students and the teaching staff, the Minister underscored the importance of education in present time and called for further enhancing of its standard which, he said is imperative for brighter future of the students besides building of a strong nation.
Mr. Feroz urged upon the students to concentrate on their studies besides actively take part in extra-curricular activities which is vital for their all-round development..
Among others, Director, JAKEDA Peerzada Hafizullah Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Mr. Ghulam Mohi-din Bhat, Deputy Director JAKEDA Dr. P. R. Dhar, Chief Medical Officer, Budgam and senior officers of Health and Science and Technology Departments accompanied the Ministers.
