UDHAMPUR: The first day of religious three day Moungri mela, which commenced here today, witnessed an overwhelming participation of people from various parts of the region at Sar Dabber (Moungri) in Panchari block of district Udhampur. The Mela was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal. Among others, Ms. Deepti Uppal, IAS Probationer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Surat Singh, SP Udhampur, Mr. Benam Tosh, Joint Director Planning, Mr. Rakesh Jamwal, Dy Controller Civil Defence, Mr. Bodh Raj, Mela Officer, Mr. Sanjeev Goswami, Chairman Mela Committee, Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, District Heads of various departments were present on the occasion. People from Bhamag, Panchari, Udhampur, Chenani, Ramnagar of Udhampur District and Jammu come here every year to celebrate the mela besides paying obeisance to Bhagwan Shiv in the a natural Shiva-Parvati Cave. While greeting the people on the occasion, the DDC said that such festivals not only fulfill our religious aspirations and spiritual bliss but people hailing from different areas get a chance to interact and share their experiences and joys. The DDC had a round of stalls installed by various departments for general awareness among people about the schemes of different departments. She called upon the officers to put in sincere and dedicated efforts to make the general public aware about the different Central and State Government schemes made especially for the uplift of ruralities. Later, she paid obeisance at the holy Shiv Parvati Cave and prayed for peace and prosperity. The district administration has made adequate arrangements of security, transport, medicare, drinking water and power supply during the mela. The Youth Services and Sports Department Udhampur has organised rural sports and cultural activities with the involvement of school students of the area. |
