SRINAGAR: Highlighting the ill effects of consumption of tobacco products, Minister for Public Enterprises, Haj, Auqaf and Floriculture, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has strongly advocated discouragement of use of tobacco products in the State. The Minister was speaking at an Inter School Symposium “Hazards of Smoking” jointly organized by the offices of Chief Post Master General, Education Department and SP Higher Secondary School in collaboration with some NGOs here today. Peerzada said that tobacco consumption results in ill effects on the parts of body and is considered responsible for many diseases of mouth, throat, lungs, stomach and kidney. He underscored the need for adopting missionary approach to sensitize the stakeholders particularly student community about the ill effects of tobacco consumption by organizing awareness camps, workshops, symposia and interactions at educational institutions. The Minister said the Government has taken measures to put an end to the menace of use of gutka from the State and hoped to put this menace to an end and make our houses and surroundings free from smoking.
