New Delhi, May 20: Heat wave swept across Northern states as temperatures on Monday soared past 44 degrees Celsius at several places affecting normal life in the region. The mercury is set to cross the 45 degrees Celsius mark in Delhi on Monday, the hottest day of the season so far, the Met Office said. Meanwhile, heat wave continued to sweep most parts of north Madhya Pradesh with temperatures crossing 45 degrees in many places. Khajuraho and Nowgaon were the hottest in the state yesterday with the maximum temperature of 46.7 degrees each. Scorching summer heat sizzled most places in Haryana and Punjab Sunday, which also recorded temperatures of over 45 degrees Celsius. Hisar in Haryana was the hottest in the two states with the mercury hitting a high of 46 degrees Celsius, five degrees above what is the average for this time of the season.
