Speaker directs for early recovery of drowned body of Faisal
‘Announces Rs.30 lakh for drainage system in Noorbagh area’

SRINAGAR, June 2 : The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mubarak Gul today visited Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh in the old city Srinagar and took stock of the rescue operations launched by the administration to trace out the body of Faisal Ali son of Ali Mohammad Sheikh, who drowned in river Jehlum near Pumposh Colony, Noorbagh yesterday. He directed the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to put effective mechanism in place to ensure early recovery of the drowned body. During his visit, the people of the said colony met the Speaker and apprised him about the incident and other problems faced by the people of the area.
The Speaker expressed shock over the incident and prayed for early recovery of the body. He assured the family members that full support will be provided by the Government to fish out the body as early as possible. He assured them that necessary relief will also be provided to the bereaved family at an earliest.
Later, the Speaker visited New Colony Palpora in the same vicinity and met the family members of Mr. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh who was injured due to mishandling of motor Genset installed for dewatering in the Colony and enquired from them about the welfare of Mr. Sheikh. He was informed that presently Mr. Sheikh has been admitted in the SKIMS, Soura and is under treatment. Mr. Gul said that the necessary instructions would be passed on to the concerned for treating the patient carefully and to be provided every possible help for his early recovery.
En-route, several deputations met the Speaker and apprised him about their individual and collective problems which include repairs and renovation of lanes and drains.
The Speaker heard them patiently and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into. He announced Rs.30 lakh for repair and renovation of lanes and drains in three colonies of Pumposh Colony Noorbagh, New Colony and New Colony Palpora. He announced that under JawaharLal Nehru National Rural Urban Mission (JNNRUM) a house would be constructed by replacing their temporary sheds to every household belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiaries of these Colonies shortly for which funds have already been released.
Responding to the demands of early completion of Footbridge at Pomposh Colony, Mr. Gul said that directions have already been issued to the concerned executing agencies for accelerating the pace of construction work on Foot Bridge and hoped that the bridge will be completed soon. The Speaker appealed the people of the area to provide education to their children as the education is the only key source to success. He also asked them to keep vigil on their wards so that they do not get indulged in social evils like Drug Menace etc.
