| Bhalla launches development works at Joogian Mohalla, Roop Nagar, Digiana | | | JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla, on Sunday laid foundation stone of road widening from Sahib Bandgi ashram to Shiv Nagar at Joogian Mohalla, Bandhu Rakh. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Government has earmarked Rs. 15 lakh for widening and mecademisation of the road which would be completed at the earliest. The Minister directed the concerned officers to personally monitor the quality of the work and ensure its timely completion. Bhalla said that Government is keen to address public concerns on priority and several measures are being initiated for timely redressal of the development related issues of the people across the State. He said Government has launched number of welfare scheme like IAY and BSUP to improve living standards of poor people of urban pockets. The Minister called upon the people to cooperate with executing agencies in quality and timely completion of ongoing development works in their respective colonies. Listing the measures taken up by the Government to improve the basic amenities in his home constituency, Bhalla said that Government has spent Rs 250 crore on commissioning of 25 deep drill tube wells including laying of water supply in periphery areas and in newly developed colonies. Besides, the Government has spent Rs. 5 crore on installation of 50 MVA transformer at Gladni in Narwal. The Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 4.78 crore for construction of 133/11 KVA receiving station at Shastri Nagar which would be completed by July this year. The station will improve power supply in Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, Nai Basti, Roop Nagar in Digiana, Bandhu Rakh and its adjoining areas. For facilitating the people of Shastri Nagar, Mr. Bhalla said the Government has dedicated Rs. 3.37 crore parking slot on Landoi Choi nallah near cremation ground. Earlier, the Minister visited Roop Nagar in Digiana and kick started construction work of lanes and drains in Gobind Nagar mohalla, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 7 lakh. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete the works within prescribed time period. Responding to demand of locals, Bhalla asked JMC to prepare estimates for left out lanes and drains of Preet Nagar and Roop Nagar Digiana and submit the same for funding. He asked the PHE officers to improve the drinking water facilities upto the tail end of the localities by raising the size of water supply pipes. |
