23 smokers fined at Ganderbal
Restaurant owner put under notice for violating COTPA in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, June 8 : As many as 23 persons were fined for smoking in public under COPTA and Rs. 3000 were recovered from the offenders in the district. Meanwhile, Food Safety Officer Srinagar, issued notice under Section-4 of COTPA to various restaurant owners for not restricting their customers from smoking in their restaurant. Under Section 4 of COTPA smoking is prohibited in all public places, including restaurants. In case of complaint is lodged, the restaurant owner is liable to pay fine of Rs. 200 for every person caught smoking in the restaurant.
