Wani visits Gandoh & Bhalessa, inspects ongoing developmental works

DODA, JUne 8 : To take on spot assessment of various developmental activities under execution in Gandoh and Bhalessa regions, Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Mr. Abdul Majid Wani today visited Thathri, Kahra, Bhatyas and Gandoh to review the pace of various ongoing infrastructural developmental works in the region.
MLA, Bhaderwah, Mr. Mohd. Sharief Niaz, MLA, Inderwal, Mr. G.M Saroori, MLC, Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta , Former Minister and AICC General Secretary, Mr. G.S Charak, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Mr. Tehsin Mustafa, District Development Commissioner Doda Mr. Mubarak Singh besides various other District and Sectoral Officers accompanied the Minister during the tour. While inspecting developmental works, Mr. Wani directed the officers to speed up the pace of works in the region for time bound completion. During the site inspection of 110 Mtr Steel Motorable Shiva Dal Bridge over river Chenab, it was apprised to the Minister by JKPCC, that the Project for construction of the above said bridge is being redesigned and the estimated cost the bridge has also escalated which was Rs. 1064 lacs initially, Minister asked the concerned executing agency to float the tenders and ensure early starting of construction of the bridge so that it gets completed soon and the huge bunch of habitations living on the other side of the River Chenab gets road connected with the Batote- Doda-Kishtwar National Highway. The Minister also inspected the pace of construction work on 86 Mtr. Steel Motorable Thathri Bridge that is being constructed by JKPCC over River Chenab at an estimated cost of Rs. 1073 lacs. The Minister directed JKPCC to speed up the construction work and ensure its time bound completion.
The Minister also addressed public gathering at Thathri, Donadi, Kahra, Bathri and Gandoh and reiterated the commitment of the coalition Government in providing all basic amenities to the people living in rural, backward and unconnected areas of the District.
Minister said that special focus is being laid on the development and upliftment of socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the region besides target oriented schemes are being initiated for the benefit and welfare of poor people. He said adequate funds are being provided by the central government for the development of different sectors in the state.
The Minister said that as the recent earthquake in the region caused massive damages to public and government property, the government has ensured that all the affected people are provided relief and rehabilitation benefits. He directed District administration to ensure that each and every affected family gets benefited.
Later, the Minister also convened a public darbar-cum- grievance camp at Gandoh and on the spot redressed various genuine public grievances and other issues. An officers meeting was also convened to discuss various road and developmental works going on in the region which include Kahra-Jai road, Gandoh- Jai road, Gandoh –Dhakie road besides other roads. He gave on spot instructions to the concerned executing agency to expedite the pace of work to ensure timely completion.
