| Mir distributes Scholarships worth Rs 25 lakh among 1721 students | | ‘Says panchayats play greater role in identifying deserving beneficiaries’ | | TANGMARG : Asking the people to come forward and to take the benefit of welfare schemes, Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that coalition government during last four years has launched numerous people friendly schemes to provide succour to the needy particularly down trodden people of the society. The Minister said this after inaugurating an awareness camp organized by the Social Welfare Department at Town Hall Tangmarg today. The camp was organised with an objective to acquaint the parents of the poor and handicapped students and people of the area about the various schemes launched by the government under various programmes. On the occasion, the Minister distributed Cheques worth Rs. 25 lakh among 1721 deserving students under Pre-matric Scholarship (PMS) programme and Rs 3.34 lakh among the beneficiaries of militancy victims of theTangmarg block. The Minister said that Government is very keen to provide financial assistance to the poor and handicapped students to bring them at par with other students. He said that adequate funds are available under all welfare programmes and stressed upon the concerned officers to aware the masses about these schemes. He said that objective to provide financial assistance to this category of students is to give them equal treatment for harnessing their vision and capability. Calling upon the Panchayati representatives to play their role, the Minister said that local governance has greater role for identifying the deserved beneficiary under these schemes. He said “It would help the poor students to achieve their desired goals and aspirations smoothly so that their talent could be channelized for the betterment of the nation”. Appreciating the efforts of Social welfare department, The Minister asked it to work with more zeal and dedication with an aim to reach out to every deserving beneficiary of the area. He said this little amount can change their destiny, if it reaches to them at the right time. He directed them to conduct such awareness camps at zonal education level alsoso that no one is left out. |
