| Rs 8cr project prioritized for Chatapal tourist Resort: G. A. Mir | | Says Tourism elevation prosperity of State | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 4: Chatapal known as mini Pahalgam would be developed a tourist destination, revealed Tourism Minister Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir today during his visit to several tourism spots of Shangus, Anantnag including Achabal, Wangam, Watersoo, Chirpora, Metvoo and Chatapal areas . The Tourism Minister Said that in this regard the State government has prioritized a project report of Rs 8 crore for central funding adding once the approval is received from Union Ministry for Tourism, the necessary development and tourist related infrastructure work would be started. The Tourism Minister said that pristine glory of pilgrim site Nagdani would be also restored and it would be brought on tourism map of the Country. He said in this regard a detailed project has also been mooted to the Centre for approval of funds. The Minister said that Shagus area has a distinct place in tourism activities and government would take all necessary steps to tap it, so that the avenues of employment are also explored. He also assessed tourism potential of its different areas and assured the people of the area that concerned authorities would be deputed to survey the areas for creation of required tourist infrastructure. Addressing public meetings during the tour, the Tourism Minister said tourism is the backbone of States’ economy and its expansion was the priority of the government. He said tourism means the prosperity of the Whole State. “We should cash Tourism and its related activities for accelerating the development of the areas and also providing the much needed job opportunities to the youth ”, he asserted and appealed all to contribute positively and not link tourism with politics and conflicts for the larger interests of the State. The Minister said that nowadays tourism is also interlinked with promotion of other potential sectors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handlooms besides Adventure, Pilgrim and Border tourism and it was the responsibility of all of us to bring complete peace and normalcy in the State for providing congenial atmosphere for not only tourism boom but other trade and commerce activities in the State. “The government would encourage private stakeholders for investment under tourism sector for creation of varied infrastructure facilities, for the purpose besides ensuring lacerative advance incentives up to Rs 1crore”,he added. The Minister said Government is abreast with the problems of the people and every effort would be undertaken to redress their grievances. Mir said provision of responsive, accountable and transparent Governance is one of the top priorities of the Government adding that landmark laws including RTI, PSGA and Vigilance Commission have been enacted by the present Government for this purpose. “Enactment of these laws is sequel to Government efforts to provide corruption free governance to the people” he added and asked the people to avail benefits of these laws. He said 69 services have been brought under the ambit of PSGA. The Minister assured the people that all their genuine demand and developmental needs would be got mitigated from concerned quarter well in time. He directed the Sectoral Officers to ensure their field visits frequently in remote areas for on the spot redressal of people’s problems and developmental needs. Senior Officers of several Departments including Tourism Department were accompanying the minister. |
