Kulgam, July 15: In order to reinforce awakening about landmark transparency laws like Right to Information Act and Public Services Guarantee Act, District Administration Kulgam today organized a mega awareness programme in which Sarpanchs, Panchs, Lumberdars besides senior citizens participated. Deputy Commissioner, Jahangir Mir presided over the function, which among others was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, besides other district officers. In his keynote address, the Deputy Commissioner dwelt in detail about the objectives for organizing the awareness programme. He said the historic legislations like PSGA and RTI have revolutionized the administration making it transparent and accountable to the common man in sync with liberal democratic spirit. These acts have empowered citizens of the state to the best advantage of the society as a whole, he maintained. Calling upon the participants to facilitate dissemination of these acts among the people for promotion of common good, the Deputy Commissioner called for observing all necessities while applying for a particular notified service. He said the PSGA calls for putting in application completed in all respects before the designated authorities, adding for the purpose necessary acknowledgements has also to be secured from him. This wonderful legislation, he said is the strongest legal intervention to curb corruption and discourage unscrupulous officials. He also directed the officers to ensure display of notice boards reflecting notified services to be delivered by them within the specified time frame. He said every common man on just visiting the public office should come to know about the service available with a particular designated authority. |
