| Bhalla inspects embankment work on Bhour Camp Floriculture garden | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27 : Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Mr. Raman Bhalla today inspected ongoing flood protection work over Balol nallah along floriculture Garden at Bhour Camp. The Minister inquired about the status of embankment work along the garden taken up at a cost of Rs 2.80 crore. He asked Irrigation and Flood Control department to complete the project in double shifts to save the prestigious garden and the property of the people residing close to the Nallah from flash floods. He was informed that during recent incessant rain, the flash flood washed away some agriculture land situated along the nallah. The Minister asked the concerned authorities to raise the height of nallah walls so that that soil erosion of agricultural land due to flash floods could be stopped. Meanwhile, Mr. Bhalla inspected the garden and was told that the work on landscaping, development of nurseries, fencing, construction of pathways, toilet blocks, mali huts, illumination, drinking water and irrigation water storage reservoirs, parking and entry gate plaza involving Rs 13.57 crore is in full swing. The Minister said that the upcoming garden would have variety of flower species, herbal garden, besides nurseries for developing medicinal plants, Tulip garden, recreational facilities for visitors and other infrastructures. He hoped that the place would become a source of major attraction for the tourists, particularly those visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji. The Minister said that a detailed project report for construction of 21 new link roads for Bhour Camp and its adjoining villages costing Rs. 4.92 crore has been submitted to the NABARD authorities for funding, adding that the works would be started with the release of funds. Listing the development works completed in Bhour Camp, Mr. Bhalla said that the Government has spent Rs. 1.20 crore on construction of 45 meter span steel girder bridge over Balol nallah near floriculture garden. He said after the construction of the bridge, the distance to floriculture garden from Bhour camp and journey to Miran Shaib town has been reduced to a large extent. He said due to non-availability of bridge over Balol nallah, locals as well as tourists were facing lot of hardships as they had to cover long distance to reach the garden. For facilitating the people of Bhour Camp and its adjoining areas, Mr. Bhalla said that a Primary Health Centre costing Rs. 1.60 crore is nearing completion in the area, adding that after its inauguration local people shall get adequate healthcare facility at their door step hospital. He said the completion of the hospital would ease the load on Government Gandhi Nagar, while the people will have an easy access to the healthcare facilities. Later, the Minister also visited Lower Gaddigarh and assessed the drainage problems of the residents. He asked the Flood Control Department to immediately start the project, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 73 Lakh for construction of 320 meter long deep drain. He called upon the people to cooperate with the executing agency in completing the project in time. He asked the PDD to shift the transformer and install it at the safer place so that the construction work of deep drain does not suffer. |
