Jammu being developed as heritage city: Wani

JAMMU, July 27 : Minister for Roads & Buildings and Mechanical Engineering Mr. Abdul Majid Wani on Saturday said that Jammu would be developed as Heritage city, while several projects are underway with regards to its beautification.
The Minister was interacting with the representatives of Raghunath Bazar Business Association here today during his tour of the city conducted to inspect the pace of progress on the developmental and public utility projects being executed by various departments.
Taking review of the Raghunath Bazar beautification project, the Minister was informed that the project envisages to give the Bazar a new look and for being the hub of business activities showcase it as a local heritage. He said the historic Raghunath temple makes the area one of the most important places in the city which attracts thousands of tourists daily. He was informed that out of Rs. 6.67 crore project cost , an amount of Rs. 3 crore has been made available to executing agencies so far.
The Minister was also honoured by the Ragh-unath Bazar Business Association by presenting a turban and shawl as a token of love. Earlier, the Minister visited Nawabad, Bhatindi and its adjoining areas and took stock of the provision of basic amenities to the people there. He inspected Bhatindi- Panjpeer road and directed the concerned for its proper maintenance.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister said that UEED would start work on Bhatindi- Panjpeer Nallah, while R&B department would take up maintenance work on local roads.
Among others, Director, Tourism, Jammu Mr. Soujanaya Sharma, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu Mr. Mustafa Tahseen, Superintending Engineers and other officers of line departments accompanied the Minister.
