| BJP leaders visit Khour, demand compensation for rain-damaged crops | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 17 : In order to take stock of losses caused by floods due to heavy rains in Bakore and Indri areas of Khour Assembly Constituency, State Incharge of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Cells Sat Sharma visited the area to assess the situation. He was accompanied by State BJP Kissan Morcha President Karan Singh and local party leaders Jagdish Bhagat, Manmohan Singh, Jai Singh and Raghubir Singh. While interacting with these leaders, the villagers of the area told that the damage by recent floods is too high and need to be assessed. They told that a Government High School in Bakore which consisted of one big hall and three rooms has been got totally damaged and washed away by floods. They further narrated that one temple namely Radhakrishan Mandir which was built in early 80's also got washed away by floods. Pertaining to that villagers also mentioned that earlier also an ancient temple built under the reign of Maharaja Vikramaditya dashed to ground in 1980 due to floods but government did not take any measures then to protect either the temples or other parts of the area. Karan Singh while expressing grief over loss of land by the farmers stressed upon formation of concrete Bund surrounding the fields. He also demanded adequate compensation to the farmers who have suffered losses due to these heavy rains and floods. |
