| ANC demands immediate help for flood affected people | | | | Jammu, Aug 17 : Awami National Conference (ANC) has expressed serious concern over flood situation in Jammu region where incessant rains have caused death of 23 persons besides damaging 836 residential houses completely and 2161 houses partially. ANC Provincial President, Gian Singh has exhorted upon the officers to be prompt and extra vigilant towards their services to deal with the situation arisen due to heavy rains and flash floods in the region effectively. Quoting an adverse weather advisory by weather office forecasting moderate rains in Jammu region till Monday, Singh maintained that most of the destruction and loss of life have happened because of the swollen Tawi and Chenab rivers. He demanded the construction of Satwari Bank on the pattern of Chenab River in Akhnoor and a project on same line and also to make necessary concrete repairs of damaged banks immediately to avoid further loss. Singh also expressed concern over continuing rains, landslides and flash floods in other parts of region and urged the Administration to keep a close vigil on the situation to avoid further loss to life and property. |
