| BFDC protests against Bahu Fort wall collapse | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 17 : To protest the collapsing of one of the walls of age old Bahu Fort, the Bahu Fort Development Committee (BFDC) held a demonstration against Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Jammu Development Authority (JDA). The Protest was led by President BFDC, Rajeev Charak alongwith Ishant Gupta - Spokesperson BFDC, Hardesh Kumar Khokher - Vice president BFDC and Satish Fangotra - Secretary BFDC. While Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Charak said that the Fort has always been a source of attraction for a number of tourists. The vista of the Himalayan Ranges and the heavenly Tawi River provide a perfect backdrop to the fort. Charak alleged that in the 16th Century the Fort was once renovated by Maharaja Dhruv Dev and afterwards no renovation work was done till now. He added that the Government sanctioned 69 Lakhs for renovation of the fort in 2010 to ASI which sublet the work to JDA. He alleged that JDA executed the work but the funds were not properly utilized adding that the walls of Fort were only given cosmetic touching. BFDC demanded judicial and technical inquiry in this regard and also demanded that the culprits should be punished under law. |
