India not to respond Pak plea for resumption of dialogue
8/17/2013 11:55:35 PM
ET Report

Jammu, Aug 17 : Besides ordering troops and the BSF, guarding the LOC and the IB, to be on an alert, New Delhi has decided to delay its response to Islamabad's plea for resumption of bilateral dialogue. Official sources said that after Pakistani troops resorted to intermittent but heavy firing on the Indian posts during the last one fortnight New Delhi has decided to keep the channels of dialogue choked till Islamabad stopped ceasefire violations and close all the remaining 22 arms training camps for militants. Sources said that even when Pakistani soldiers sneaked into the Indian Territory and killed five Indian soldiers in ambush New Delhi had agreed to hold talks for settling some bilateral issues. But when the level of ceasefire violations in creased resulting in injuries to three soldiers and three civilians New Delhi was forced to review its decision to accept Islamabad's dates for talks. And sources blamed Pakistani troops for having sabotaged the process of dialogue between India and Pakistan after the Pak troops violated, after 14 years, ceasefire in Kargil.
According to these sources, Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had voiced his willingness to hold talks with Pak leaders but top Congress leaders, including AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, opposed reopening of the channels of dialogue with Islamabad till there was comple peace on the LOC and the IB. Reports said that votary of Indo-Pak dialogue, Omar Abdullah, too has been upset over Pak help to militants in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir and in violating ceasefire repeatedly. He has accused Pakistan of adopting dual strategy, on one side favouring dialogue on the other indulging in repeated ceasefire violations.
He has blamed Pakistan Government for telling lies adding that on one hand it s troops were violating ceasefire on the other were accusing India of opening fire on the Pak posts. Sources said that India has toughened its st and against Pakistan and has conveyed to Islamabad that talks will resume only after border mischief was stopped by Pak troops.
