Kathua, Aug 17: Lakhanpur Municipal Committee (LMC) and Punjab Irrigation Department launched a plantation drive on Saturday. According to press release, LMC planted saplings of ornamental plants in different localities including Irrigation land, which is free from the reach of land mafia. The drive was started by planting ornamental species in the premises of LMC by Municipal EO along-with Staff.
The fencing was also put on either sides of irrigation land on the bank of Kashmir canal in order to protect the land from encroachers. On the occasion, Junior Engineer Irrigation Department Punjab Jagdev Singh said that the plantation is of two motives one is to protect the land from the illegal encroachers and second is to bring the beatification of the area being a gateway of Jammu and Kashmir State. |
