| Hanjura appointed as Registrar SC | | | ET Report Jammu, Aug 17: Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua MK Hanjura has been appointed as Registrar of Supreme Court of India. It is worthwhile to mention that Hanjura is first Judicial Officer of State Higher Judiciary who has been appointed as Registrar in the Supreme Court second time. According to the order No 210/2013 issued by Secretary General Ravindra Maithani of Supreme Court wherein it has been mentioned that Chief Justice of India has been pleased to appoint Maharaj Krishan Hanjura as Registrar of Supreme Court on deputation basis initially period of one year. K Hanjura belongs to Chadoora, Budgam. He completed his graduation in Arts from University of Kashmir and did LLB (Hons) from University of Kashmir and enrolled as pleader in 1980. He practised law up to 1987 and was appointed as Munsiff in January 1987, promoted as Sub-Judge in November 1996 and appointed as District and Sessions Judge in March 2003. He was inducted into the Selection Scale in September, 2009. Presently he is functioning as Principal District & Sessions Judge Kathua. He has distinction of serving in segments of Registry of the J and K High Court. Meanwhile Registrar General of J&K High Court Suresh Sharma has relieved the Hanjura of his present assignment to enable him to join his new assignment. It is worthwhile to mention here that after appointment as District and Sessions Judge in 2003, Hanjura was posted Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu and decided a much publicized Birpur Land Scam in which he awarded imprisonment to the then Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and private persons.
