Rajouri, Aug 17: The day curfew, imposed in Rajouri on last Saturday following communal clashes in Kishtwar today was lifted on second consecutive day in Rajouri city today. Meanwhile authorities maintained that night curfew will remain in force till the normalcy is fully restored. Aftermath communal tensions erupted in Kishtwar, the heat reached to border district Rajouri when some unidentified pelted stone on a religious place resulting into communal tensions forcing district administration to call Army and enforce curfew to avert untoward incident in the sensitive old city. "The decision regarding the lifting of 'day curfew' was taken in a meeting chaired by FC Bhagat, DDC, Rajouri, following some normalcy in the situation. Meantime the majority community has demanded identification and action against those who had pelted stone on a religious place whereas minority community has been demanding action against those who had tried to break/damage their business establishment on last Saturday. A deputation of BJP, Bajrang Dal, VHP, and other organizations called on DDC Rajouri today and denied their hand in flaring tensions in the region and said they have no objection if administration takes action against those miscreants. Meanwhile apprehending some trouble on Monday when School and colleges will start functioning, the administration had deployed two companiesof CRPF for security purpose and strict implementation of section 144. |
