| Sardar Rafiq, Rashid Qureshi demand compensation for LoC firing vicitms | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: Former Minister and MLA Mendhar Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan and former MLC Mohammad Rashid Qureshi have demanded that government should take immediate steps for providing compensation/ex-gratia relief to the three persons who were seriously injured in the firing between the Indian and Pakistan troops at LOC in Mendhar. "Mohammad Hafeez, one of the injured, is under treatment at Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. The splinter of the gun shot still exists in his body as on date and no operation has been conducted upon him. He is living in a very painful condition," they said in a joint statement. "No government official has visited him and no relief has been released in favour of the injured persons. The careless act on the part of the government is highly condemnable," they said and alleged that the present government had miserably failed to come to the expectations of the people of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. "The government is adopting a step motherly attitude towards the people of Mendhar in particular and Poonch and Rajouri in general as no officer or minister has been deputed to assess the loss caused in the recent continuous heavy rain and flash floods," they said. "The relief should be given to the affected people by declaring it as a natural calamity so as the affected farmers should be compensated as they should be provided free ration for six months." |
