Early Times Report
PULWAMA, Aug 20: In what seems to a deep rooted conspiracy to scare away the Kashmiri pandit families who have been employed in the valley under Prime Minister's special employment package as part of an initiative to rehabilitate the community back in the valley, the housing cluster of these KP families were targeted by miscreants who resorted to discriminate stone pelting leaving several including children injured and frightened.
Some 60 KP families were targeted by youth reportedly enraged over action of local administration to pull off an illegal encroachment near the camp.
Officers of the district administration and MLA rushed to the spot and assured KP families of their safety and security and also assured action against the guilty.
The local Police and CRPF jawans in large number have been deployed in the area to defy such incident in future. Besides injuries to the inmates, window panes of the buildings were extensively damaged. No arrests have however been made till reports last came in.
Meanwhile, Migrant employees staged a day long protest against the stone pelting by miscreants the previous day. The protestors raising slogans against the administration and government demanded proper security to migrant camps in Valley where the displaced employees were putting up.
According to reports the protestors warned to continue the demonstration till the Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation Minister will visit the camp and give an assurance of beefing up security in the camp. Later on the assurance of MoS Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmed Khan the migrants called off dharna. The Minister who was accompanied by Revenue Secretary, Vinod Kaul and DC Pulwama and other senior police and civil officers assured the protestors that security will be beefed up in the camp and the miscreants responsible for yesterday's attack and stone pelting will be dealt under the law.
