Army dedicates 'Budhal bridge' after its due repairs

Rajouri, Aug 19: Continuing its endevour to the strengthen the bond between the army and the local populace, the Army deployed in Budhal once again extended a helping hand to the people when local administration failed to repair the damaged bridge over river Ans in Budhal of Rajouri. And dedicated it to the people here today in a simple ceremony organized here today. The bridge was damaged about 8 months ago and since then people living on South and North sides of river were facing lot of problems to cross the river. People approached the officers of 60 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) based at Samote and apprised them about their problem about the damaged bridge, and taking cognizance of their problem the higher authorities of 60 RR in collaboration with Engineer Regiment took up the task to repair the bridge. According to the defence sources the bridge situated at Rathermandi is an important bridge connecting the villages of North of Ans river with the villages of South of Ans river is not of local significance but also holds a strategic importance for the security scenario in this tehsil. "When the people failed to get any response from civil administration they approached us and we took the challange" said a unit officer. The repaired bridge in a simple but impressive ceremony was handed over to the civil administration today. Locals appreciating the role of army stated that opening of this bridge, the people of villages from Ratharmandi, Luni Draman, Larkuti, Darawala, Karak, Badhal, Moda, Jaglanu, Takia, Draj, Pateli, and Chapdi will be benefitted. Speaking on the occasion Commanding Officer said, "The project will have a long term effect on their quality of life of people of affected villages and will provide an impetus and motivation in enhancing good relationship with the Army" said commanding officer 60RR."
He also assured the people of the area for more military civic action projects in future. Besides this he also stressed that the proper maintenance of the projects rests with the civil society which is necessary to derive the benefits and utilize it in times to come. Meanwhile the handing over ceremony of this bridge was attended by a large gathering of villagers and prominent members of civil administration.
