JAMMU, Aug 20: Ahmed Akram and Kinshuk Safaya of Jammu district made it a double gold win in the boys' under-19 category in the Inter-district Divisional level Swimming competition, organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at KC Public School, here today.
While Ahmed clinched gold in 100 and 200 meters free style events, Kinshuk won first position in 50 meters and free style and 50 meters butter fly.
Similarly, in under-17 age group, Sidharn Sharma bagged two gold medals. In under-14 year boys' category, Karan Dhar and Yograj secured two gold medals each.

Meanwhile, other two events of boys and girls under-19 year inter-district divisional level Carom and Chess also concluded today.
The Results: Carom boys: Kathua (Deepak and Gourav Sharma) bt Jammu (Piyush Pandita and Akash). Carom girls: Kathua (Karandeep Kour and Preeti Jasrotia) bt Jammu (Shruti and S Sharma). Chess boys: Kathua (Karanveer Singh) bt Jammu (Naginder). Chess girls: Jammu (Anjum Choudhary) bt Kathua (Divya Sharma).
Meanwhile, Government SRML Higher Secondary School today clinched the inter-school Jammu district boys' under-19 basketball trophy outplaying JK Public School 20-03 in the final played at Mini Stadium, Parade, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, SRML outplayed MIER 24-19 in a close contest that took place yesterday. In other semifinal, JK Public defeated KC Public School 18-12.
Meanwhile, the girls' under-19 championship trophy went to Army Public School (APS) Domana. In the title clash, APS Domana outplayed MHAC Nagbani 22-20 in a neck of neck contest.
In the girls' semifinals, APS Domana downed KC Public School 07-05 in a low scoring game while MHAC Nagbani beat MIER 12-08.
Earlier, in the preliminary round, MHAC Nagbani blanked KC International 10-00 and KC Public trounced Delhi Public School 8-0. The champion side of APS Domana had beaten Jodhamal Public School 12-08. This inter-school district level basketball tournament was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the overall supervision of District Officer, Tirath Ram. |
