| Jandial, Seth opposes Multi Story parking at Gol Mkt | | | JAMMU, Oct 15: In a joint statement issued by Secretary General J&K Society of Technocrats I C Jandial and Senior Executive of JKST and Chairman WWF Dr C M Seth has opposed the proposed plan of ERA to construct Multi Story Parking at Central Park, Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
While expressing shock over the statement of Tourism Minister who has emphatically stated that the construction of Multi Story parking upto first floor level in central park Gandhi Nagar area is to overcome shortage of parking space as there is no such facility available there. The Minister is neither properly briefed by concerned officials nor the Minister has tried to address the grievances of Senior Citizens, women and children availing the facility of green patch only available to them in the shape of central park.
Notwithstanding the fact that this park is a main breather for hundreds of people living nearby area the authorities are adamant in killing the green park thus grossly violating the Supreme Court directives issued from time to time on such issues. The Minister is requested to visit the area before embarking on this project which will ultimately be a exercise in futility.
The Minister is also informed through the Media that two vacant lots are available adjacent to centra park for construction of parking lot if at all the project is viable.
It is also appealed to Minister to hold a meeting at site with the actual stake holders rather than vested interests who are bent upon destroying the environments to axe their grind.
