Women Meet on Food Security Act organized

Samba, Oct 15 : month long intensive publicity awareness campaign on Food Security Act was kicked off by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, J & K Region, Jammu in 14 identified Rural Development Blocks throughout the length and breadth of Jammu & Kashmir state from October to December 2013.
Field Publicity Unit Kathua in close coordination and cooperation with ICDS project, Vijaypur organized a day-long women meet on Food Security Act at community hall in village Ridwam. The awareness programme was aimed at sensitizing and mobilizing the masses in general and rural masses in particular especially at the grass root level about various aspects and provisions of recently passed Food Security Act, which is meant for providing food to all.
On the occasion a large number of local ladies and adolescent girls of the vicinity participated in the seminar with great enthusiasm.
Over half a dozen Anganwari workers and helpers drawn from different Anganwari centers of the area participated in the seminar with zeal and expressed their views on the subject. The function was presided over by N. Gulshan Raina (IIS), Filed Publicity Officer, DFP.
While unveiling the concept of Food Security Act Raina stressed upon the common masses to avail maximum benefits of all flagship programmes undertaken by the Govt. of India from time to time for their betterment, upliftment and development. While interacting with the audience Raina spelled out the aims and objectives of such awareness programmes for the common masses directly at the grass root level from time to time.
He requested the audience to act as ambassadors in spreading the message of provisions and importance of Food Security Act and its components in their respective areas and strongly advocated to shoulders their responsibilities for the proper and effective implementation of this national programme.
Raina further highlighted the significance of such awareness programmes from time to time for the awareness of "Aam Adami" especially the inhabitants of rural India.
While presenting vote of thanks Vijay Jasrotia, ICDS supervisor appreciated the efforts made by DFP in making the rural masses aware about various central sponsored schemes and programmes launched by Govt. of India from time to time for the benefits, upliftment and safeguard of the people of the country in general and rural populace in particular.
