Pak firing kills soldier in Poonch sector

Jammu, Oct 15 : Unprovoked heavy firing /shelling by the Pakistan army started at about 3 pm in Hamirpur sector in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district, killing a Lance Nailk of 38 RR attached with 15 Bihar was killed when mortar splinters hit him inside the forward post at about 5 pm in today.The killed soldier has been identified as MF Khan of 38RR attached with 15 Bihar unit manning the area in Hamirpur sector. He was hit by the splinters of a mortar shell that landed near the post he was manning. For the last seven days Pakistan army has been targeting the army's forward posts /installations and most of the mortar shells hitting the villages situated within 4-5 kilometers from Line of Control beyond and before the fencing in Rajouri and Poonch districts.In the afternoon at about 3pm in a heavy firing in which 637 and 650 Mujahideen Bns of Pakistan army using heavy machine guns , mortars, under barrel grenade launchers (UBGL) , automatic weapons etc , a soldier of Bihar regiment was reportedly killed in Hamirpur area in Bhimber Gali (BG)sector. At the time of filing this report exchange of heavy firing between the two armies was in progress in the entire belt ranging from Sagragali to Hamirpur covering more than 30 kilometers.Pakistan army from their forward posts including Goga , Dabri Cheel, New Defence, Jhand,Hankle-3,Lanjyot,Doblla etc intentionally targeting the forward post including Poona , Pirbaba, Dabi, 485FDL,Dhamu etc manned by Bihar and Grenadiers. Splinters of mortar shell which hit the forward post manned by Bihar unit in Hamirpur area hit the jawan inside the bunker and later he succumbed to injuries."First Pakistan army started unprovoked firing at about 10.25 pm on Monday. It again targeted Hamirpur battalion in BG sector at 6.30 am on Tuesday which continued till 9.30am. The firing was retaliated effectively by our troops by using similar caliber weapons" said Col RK Palta defence PRO. Pakistan army has been targeting the entire forward areas between Sabragali and Hamirpur manned by Bihar , Grenadiers and 49 RR units. In the early hours of Tuesday Pakistan army started unprovoked heavy firing using small, automatic weapons, mortars and medium to heavy machine guns targeting forward posts in Bariyani Gali in Manjakot manned by Jat regiment and Barhuti areas in Balakot sector manned by RR unit. Some of the mortar shells also fell in village Mangalnar close to Biryangali post and villagers were forced to remain inside their houses. "Since the ceasefire agreement in2003 it was first time that the mortar shell have fallen in our village which has created fear among the inhabitants. During shelling /firing everybody remained inside their houses which had badly affected the ensuing harvesting" said Riaz resident of Mangal Nar. In the months of August and September four soldiers of Bihar regiment were injured at forward posts when Pakistan army resorted to heavy unprovoked shelling/firing.
The injured include sepoy Dharminder, Ajit Kumar, Prince Kumar and lance naik Mangr Oran.In an another incident sepoy Sunil of 40 RR who was manning the area in Mandi sector in Poonch district has lost his one foot in an mine blast and was airlifted to Udhampur in the evening. Defence sources said that while manning the fence in Bilal top area he put his foot on an abandoned mine, due to heavy rains it came out, and in the blast he lost his foot.
