Sports Reporter POONCH, Oct 15: Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch won the inaugural match of Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Club, here today. In the opening match, GDC Poonch defeated PP Tigers by seven runs. Bating first, after winning the toss, GDC Poonch set a target of 119 runs. Amit Singh made highest 48 runs while Bindu took two wickets from PP Tigers. In reply, PP Tigers could not chase the total and in the process lost all their wickets for 111 runs. Himalaya remained top scorer with 29 runs. From GDC Poonch, Vikas and Jasvinder took two wickets each. In all, 20 teams are taking part in this tournament which was declared open by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shamsher Hussain. Interacting with the participants, SSP congratulated the Shaheed Manjeet Club in promoting sports in the district. Earlier, chairman of Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club, Mohd Tariq Khan welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished gathering amidst brief report of the event. |
