| Distt Cong remembers Pt Nehru on his birth anniversary | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Nov 14: The first Prime Minister, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, was remembered on his 143rd birth anniversary by the District Kathua Congress Committee in a programme held under the leadership of District President Congress Committee and MLC Subash Gupta at party office here today. Speaking on the occasion, Subash Gupta described Nehru as a great statesman and the architect of modern India. He said Nehru had laid down sound foundations of the country's policies and programmes on all fronts which paid dividends with India emerging a great nation today and the world acknowledged it. "Understanding the need to develop the nation in an area of science and technology, Nehru laid much thrust in building industrial culture on scientific pattern to ensure that country moves ahead towards progress and prosperity", he said and adding "foreign policy of independent India was formed by Nehru and he was the chief architect of NAM in the World". Gupta advised the younger generations to read and understand Nehru as the young Congress workers must educate themselves about the contributions of Nehru in the freedom struggle and in shaping the policies of independent India as the first Prime Minister. |
