Kathua observes Children's day with zeal, enthusiasm

KATHUA, Nov 14: Children's day was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and zeal in several education institutions of the city. The schools and colleges organized various events to mark the day.
Tiny Scholars High School, Kathua observed the Children's day to commemorate the 123rd birth anniversary of country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
A cultural programme in the premises of the school was held as part of the Children's day celebrations. Students performed various activities including recitation of poems, plays, skits and patriotic songs, released tricolor balloons and hoisted the national flag.
The School Principal Maneesha Gupta and staff were among the prominent persons who paid floral tributes at the memorial. While speaking on the occasion, Principal Maneesha Gupta threw light on Nehru's life.
She said that the motive behind the celebration of this great day in India is celebrated every year on November 14 to increase the awareness of people towards the rights, care and education of children.
'Bachpan'- the junior wing of Tiny Scholars also celebrated the day with traditional zeal and fervor.
DRS Kids Playway School, Shiva Nagar, near Housing Colony, Kathua celebrated the Children's day with enthusiasm. A kids' carnival comprising magic show, tattoo making, fun games, fancy dress, bouncers and jokers was organized in the school campus.
Children had a gala time with Mickey mouse, Charlie Chaplin, Alien, Dinosaur etc. They came to school in colorful dresses and most of them were dressed as Chacha Nehru. Sweets and chocolates were distributed after the function. Rajiv Gandhi College of Education also celebrated Children's day in Government Middle School Manke-Talab (Boys) at Chack Desa Singh here today.
The students of Rajiv Gandhi College of Education have spent lot of recreational time with the students of school and shared their thoughts and experiences of schooling with students of the School. On the occasion students of Rajiv Gandhi College of Education and Govt Middle School Manke-Talab jointly presented various activities likes tug of war, running, spoon race, poetry recitation, Antakshri and a play on drug addiction.
